WHAT TO KNOW

What can I expect from
therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process that helps you better understand your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns of behavior. Through conversation, reflection, and evidence-based strategies, therapy can help you develop new ways of coping, responding, communicating, and approaching the challenges in your life.

Therapy is tailored to your goals. Depending on what you need, our work may focus on building insight, strengthening practical skills, improving relationships, navigating difficult experiences, or creating meaningful changes in your day-to-day life.

How does Dr. Seabrook work?

Dr. Seabrook’s approach is collaborative, individualized, and evidence-based. He integrates psychodynamic, relational, and developmental perspectives with empirically supported interventions to provide treatment tailored to each individual’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.

Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy is adapted to fit the person, not the other way around. Depending on your concerns, preferences, and treatment goals, Dr. Seabrook may draw from several evidence-based approaches to support meaningful and lasting change.

Learn more about some of the therapeutic approaches that may be incorporated into your care:

CBT is a practical, evidence-based approach that explores the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It can help identify patterns that contribute to distress and develop more effective ways of responding to life’s challenges.

ACT helps people develop greater psychological flexibility by learning how to respond differently to difficult thoughts and emotions while staying connected to their values and goals.

Mindfulness encourages greater awareness of thoughts, emotions, and experiences in the present moment without judgment. It can help reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and increase overall well-being.

Emotion-Focused Therapy helps individuals better understand, experience, and work through emotions in ways that promote healing and growth. Rather than avoiding or suppressing difficult feelings, EFT views emotions as valuable sources of information that can guide meaningful change and deeper self-understanding.

Psychodynamic therapy explores how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and relationship dynamics may influence your current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By developing a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can help uncover longstanding patterns that may be contributing to distress or keeping you feeling stuck.

A trauma-informed approach recognizes the impact that difficult experiences can have on emotional, physical, and relational well-being. Therapy is tailored to promote safety, trust, and healing at a pace that feels comfortable.

Solution-Focused Therapy emphasizes strengths, resources, and practical steps toward meaningful change. Rather than concentrating primarily on problems, it focuses on identifying solutions and building on what is already working.
